It is better for you to remove all grime, dirt, grease and soap scum by using a cleaning product that you have. After that, you have to cut and remove old stuff by using a putty knife or a screwdriver. And then an existing grout should be scrapped out by using grout removal tool. Debris should be removed and then you have to check the wet spot which usually places on caulking that will make your bathroom a water leak. If there are a couple of leakage problems, you have to repair them before you paint your bathroom.
You can scour the base to remove the glossy finish by using 120-grit sandpaper. By using a sponge and trisodium phosphate, you can clean the entire shower base, and then you have to clean the base, and it should be wiped dry by using paper towels.
It is better for you to cover all of the surrounding areas of your shower by using sheets of plastic to avoid shower floor paint from being sprayed into parts other than the base. You have to tape the plastic where the base has met. It is important for you to use additional tape to cover the fixtures and drain of the shower.
